‘Southern Trust ‘refuse’ to meet local councillor,’ Sinn Fein

Slieve Gullion councillor Terry Hearty has said he is disappointed that a request for a meeting between elected representatives and the Southern Trust in relation to domiciliary care staff has been turned down.

Sinn Fein Councillor Terry Hearty

The Sinn Féin representative said, “I am very disappointed that my request has been turned down.

“A number of domiciliary care staff have raised concerns with me about new clients being directed to private providers. They have legitimate concerns that the services they provide are at risk of being neglected in favour of private companies.

“I take my responsibility as a public representative very seriously so when people started contacting me on this issue I immediately tried to arrange this meeting. In fact this is the second time that I have been turned down by the Southern Trust.

Hearty addedm “I am very concerned that I am being denied the opportunity to fully represent these staff.”
