Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a robbery that occurred in the Forkhill Road area on the afternoon of Friday 4th April. A 56 year old man was approached in the street by five men, all aged in their early 20s. One of the men was armed with a hammer and told the man to get on the ground. Another of the young men took the man’s mobile phone and wallet out of his pocket. They made off with a sum of cash in a black Honda Civic. The 56 year old man was not injured in the incident but was left shocked. Anyone who knows anything about this incident is asked to contact CID in Ardmore Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
