Newry police charge man after armed robbery
Detectives in Newry have charged a 42 year old man with robbery and possession of a firearm with intent.
It is believed the charges relate to an incident in the Upper Water Street area of Newry on Thursday 30th January.
At approximately 6.25pm on the day in question it was reported that a man carrying a suspected firearm entered business premises in the area and threatened staff.
The man then made off with a sum of cash. The member of staff was not injured during the incident.
He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23rd April.
As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
