Game of Thrones Rostrevor landscape blighted by dumping
Sinn Féin candidate in the Crotlieve area Mark Gibbons has said it is extremely disappointing that an area of Rostrevor used for filming by the hit tv series ‘Game Of Thrones’ has once again been subject to illegal dumping.
Speaking on the issue, Gibbons said, “Leitrim Lodge, the area where this dumping has occurred, is an area of outstanding natural beauty and was featured in the ‘Game Of Thrones’ tv series.
“Irresponsible individuals have once again blighted this landscape with illegal dumping. Dumping such as this is simply unacceptable and indeed a number of local people have approached me to express their frustration at the persistence of the individuals responsible to continue with this.
He continued, “I have once again contacted the council in order to have the dumped materials removed, and will be seeking greater preventative measures in order to stop this reoccurring.
“Those responsible for this should be ashamed of themselves, and I would call on anyone with any information to report it to the PSNI or Newry & Mourne Council so that the culprits can be punished.
Gibbons added, “We are extremely lucky to have such beautiful surroundings in our area and it is important that we do not allow a tiny minority of individuals to spoil that for everyone.”
