Newry City Councillor Charlie Casey has called on Newry & Mourne District Council to ensure that the lane way at the rear of Jennings Park is landscaped and enhanced on completion of work on the new swimming pool complex. Speaking about the issue the Sinn Féin representative said, “This lane way, which runs from Killeavy Road in the Meadow to Railway Avenue, is used on a daily basis as a short cut for people heading to and from Newry town centre. “It has been here for a very long time and is used by both young and old. I am calling on the council to ensure that this particular piece of land is landscaped and properly finished to the highest standard once the new swimming facility is completed. Casey added, “I believe that this will enhance this area and will surely be welcomed by the many users of the route. I know that council did talk about carrying out work here but I am determined to ensure that the issue does not slip off the radar.”
