St Colman’s College student, 14, killed in road collision
A 14 year old boy has died after being involved in a collision.
The crash happened on the Scarva Road just before 8am this morning.
The teenager was hit by a van and police arrested a 30 year old man, who was subsequently released unconditionally.
Speaking to Newry Times, local SDLP MLA Sean Rogers said, “My heart goes out to the boy’s family, to his friends and the school community of St Colman’s College, Newry at this tragic time.
“This is absolutely heartbreaking for the boy’s family, and my thoughts and prayers are with them at this incredibly sad time,” the MLA added.
Police in Banbridge appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash or was travelling on the Scarva Road around the time of the collision to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or call police at Banbridge Police Station by calling 0845 600 8000.
