Mains extension for Ballygorian residents

SDLP representatives in South Down have been informed by NI Water that the water mains extension scheme for the Ballygorian Road, Hilltown has begun this week after it was deferred on several occasions.

SDLP MLA Karen McKevitt

South Down MLA Karen McKevitt commented, “ I am pleased that work on this scheme has finally started.

The scheme was originally to begin last November and then in February 2014 but it was postponed on both occasions to avoid clashing with other projects in the area.

McKevitt continued, “It is anticipated that the work will take four weeks and drivers should expect delays or diversions along this route

SDLP Crotlieve Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick added, “The residents of the Ballygorian Road have had to deal with inadequate water supply and low pressure for too long and I am delighted that this scheme has now commenced.

She added, “The SDLP team, including the recently retired Councillor Sean O Hare, have been pushing for this scheme for a long time on behalf of residents from the area so this is very much a good news story.”
