Wild about wildlife at Slieve Gullion Forest Park

Find out what wildlife has sprung up in the park by joining the Ring of Gullion AONB and Ulster Wildlife for a free family fun nature trail around Slieve Gullion Forest Park’s Hawthorn Woods on Saturday 22nd March, from 2.00pm until 4.00pm.

There will be lots of fun nature activities including hunting for mini-beasts, a forest ramble and a scavenger hunt.

Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion Officer said, “The nature trail is great fun for all the family, as well as an opportunity to get active outdoors, learning more about the world around us. Come and have a wildlife adventure here at the Ring of Gullion.”

“Children love getting up close to nature,” said Christine Chambers, Development Officer for Ulster Wildlife. “Slileve Gullion Forest Park has red squirrels, great spotted woodpeckers, jays and tree creepers to spot, as well as mini-beasts and bugs waiting to be discovered in the dead and rotting wood.

She added, “So wrap up warm, put on your wellies and join us for an afternoon in the woods.”
