Newpoint Players presents Frankenstein
Newry’s very own award-winning theatre company, Newpoint Players, have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming production of Frankenstein – an adaptation of the classic Mary Shelly novel written by Newpoint’s own Sean Treanor – who is also directing the piece.
The cast have high hopes for this year’s run after having scooped more than 20 awards in last year’s Ulster Festival circuit, including Best Play and Best Director.
The title character, Victor Frankenstein, will be played by the very talented Kilian Foy, who is no stranger to the Newry stage having recently played the title role of Joseph for the Bosco Drama Group in November.
The Creature will be played by Turlough Trainor whose performance is sure to move you and frighten you at the same time! The cast also includes many talented Newry performers including Zoe Slevin as the Bride of Frankenstein, Martin Morgan as Victor’s father and, Newpoint legend, Donal O’Hanlon as Old Michael.
This ambitious take on Mary Shelly’s classic novel will be enhanced with the addition of music sung by the cast under the direction of Musical Director, John Coyle and Choir Mistress, Mary McManus.
Newry audiences will be treated to a special preview performance before the show goes on the road throughout March. You can catch the show on Wednesday 26th February at 7pm in Newry Town Hall.
As the novel is now on the A-Level English syllabus, students are particularly welcome and there will be a Question and Answer session afterwards with the director and cast.
Admission will be £5 paid on the door. Email newpointplayers@gmail.com for more information.
