The news came today in response to a question put to the Minister of Finance during in the Assembly.

“I am very happy that this matter is now being resolved in negotiations between NIPSA and the Department of Finance following a change in the legal position to the time limit within which former staff members can lodge equal pay claims,” the SDLP MLA stated.

“After settlement terms and payment processes are agreed with the union, NIPSA, the Department will pay those staff members who lodged writs in court and will contact former staff who may be able to bring a claim, such claims will be settled in the same way.

Bradley added, “This is good news for all those civil service pensioners, members of NIPSA, who lost out on the equal pay settlement who will benefit not only from the equal pay settlement but who will also gain some additional pension benefit.”
