Man suffers head injury after Newry pub assault

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault in the smoking area of a bar on Francis Street.

Some time between 11.30pm and 11.45pm a 20 year old man was assaulted resulting in a head injury and a chipped tooth.

It is believed he was struck on the head from behind. Police are keen to speak to a man who was involved in an altercation with the victim prior to the assault.

The man is described as being in his late 20s, approximately 6ft tall with short, dark hair. He spoke with a southern accent and was wearing a navy and cream striped t-shirt.

They are also keen to speak to a female who wass sitting at a table at the front of the premises. She is described as being in her early 20s with long, brown, curly hair. She was wearing a red dress.
