Newry Sinn Fein Councillor rejects resignation claims
Sinn Fein Councillor Peter Kearney has rejected claims that he has resigned from the party after posts on Facebook and Twitter hinted he may have left Sinn Fein due to problems with the local leadership and strategy of Sinn Fein
Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Kearney said, “I fully support the leadership of Sinn Féin both nationally and locally and endorse the strategy.
“I have decided not to put my name forward for the super council as the setup would not suit my personal circumstance.
He added, “I however will remain an active member of Sinn Féin and continue to work towards our goal of building a new united Ireland based on equality. “
