Spate of house burglaries in South Armagh

Sinn Féin candidate Mickey Larkin has condemned one robbery and one attempted robbery which took place in the Dromintee area this week.

“These incidents occurred at houses less than a mile apart which would point to the likelihood that the same people bear responsibility for both,” Larkin explained to Newry Times.

“In the first incident the thieves managed to gain entry to the property and made off with items from the house. In the second property they were disturbed and left the scene empty handed.

“It is reported that they left the second property in a silver Mercedes type vehicle. This is the latest in a spate of robberies which have occurred across South Armagh. I know that in other areas there have also been increases in this type of incident.

The Sinn Fein representative added, “I want to condemn these attacks on the community of Dromintee and to ask that people remain vigilant and security conscious about their property and possessions. Anyone who sees anything untoward, no matter how trivial, should contact the police or a local representative.”
