Assault leads to Newry police uncovering 22 cannabis plants

Police in Newry have arrested a 20 year old man following the seizure of 22 cannabis plants. At 1.06am on Saturday, 16th November, police received a report of a 50 year old male being assaulted in a flat on Sandys Street. The man sustained facial injuries as a result of the assault. Police conducted a subsequent search of a flat in the area and discovered cannabis plants. A 20 year old male was arrested for GBH with intent, possession of an offensive weapom, theft, threats to kill, cultivating cannabis, possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.
