Local wedding businesses flourish at leading bridal awards

Several local businesses in the Newry and Banbridge areas have been voted amongst the best in their field at the prestigious 2013 Getting Married in Northern Ireland Reader Awards.

The Grand Ballroom at the Europa Hotel, Belfast was filled with the sound of wedding bells this past Saturday, November 9th, when the annual gala event was held, with no less than 300 guests taking their seats to discover if their business had landed a coveted award.

Now marking its eighth year, the Reader Awards, hosted by Getting Married in Northern Ireland bridal magazine, is considered a landmark event in the calendars of the province’s wedding industry experts.

Local businesses that received awards included: 3rd Place, Best Groomswear- Groom Formal Hire, Banbridge 4th Place, Best Entertainment- Michael Magill Entertainment, Warrenpoint.

The awards were presented by Cool FM’s DJ Sonya Mac, special master of ceremonies for the evening. The top three finalists in each category received a beautifully crafted porcelain award from the evening’s main sponsor, along with a framed certificate.

Publisher Dawn Hamilton said, “Once again, we have been overwhelmed by the response to the Reader Awards- newly married couples again voted in their thousands and we were delighted to honour the dedication of the winning businesses.

“The night was a huge success with excellent food and service from the hotel and great entertainment from ‘Acousticratz’ and ‘Platinum.’ We’re already looking forward to next year and celebrating the ninth year of the Reader Awards!”

The Reader Awards take place each year, with readers of the magazine voting over a 12-month period for the businesses which they felt offered a top-class professional service, that really added to their wedding day.
