Celebrating Change event set for Newry
Challenge of Change, led by Newry and Mourne District Council is celebrating two years of successful projects with a showcase event to be held in Newry on 22nd November.
Challenge of Change aims to facilitate greater involvement of people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in civic, community and political life and increase community cohesion.
The event takes place from 10-3pm on 22nd November in Newry Conference and Banqueting Centre. The celebration will highlight some of the key projects that took place during the last two years and special guest speaker is Catherine Lynch, former Director of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) Ireland and Diversity Manager at University College Dublin.
Speaking about the event Councillor Roy McCartney, Joint Chair of PEACE III Southern Partnership said, ‘This event will showcase some of the important work Challenge of Change has undertaken over the last two years in the area of anti-racism and integration.
“It will also provide an important social and networking opportunity for participants and stakeholders,” he added.
Other speakers include teachers from local schools, Newry and Mourne District Council and participants from the BME community within the Southern Cluster and there will be an exhibition of works from recent minority projects.
