Rogers welcomes community family support programme
Local SDLP Assembly Member Seán Rogers had a very informative meeting with People First who are administering the Community Family Support Programme.
Speaking to Newry Times, Rogers said, “It was good to meet with Melanie Poland, Family Liaison Officer for People 1st. Melanie updated me on the scheme which is currently underway in the local area.
“The Community Family Support Programmes key aim is to support families to reach their full potential. It is 26 week programme and the families concerned will receive help from professionally qualified family support workers to address the health, social, economic, educational and employment issues that impact on their daily lives.
“The programme is voluntary and to qualify you need to have family members that are not in employment and include children which are post primary age (14 to 18 years). This is a very worthwhile programme and I would encourage all interested parties to seek more information,” he added.
The closing date for the current scheme is Friday 15th November so if you are interested please contact my office on 437 22443 or People 1st directly on 028 92 665100.”
