Taxi man injured after late night Newry attack

Police in Newry are appealing for information following the report of an assault outside licensed premises in the Forkhill Road area in the early hours of Saturday 9th November.

It was reported that at around 1.15am a taxi driver was assaulted by a man who was described as being around 30 years old, medium/heavy build with short hair and was wearing a pink/purple shirt and jeans.

He was accompanied by another man and a woman and it is believed that all three were picked up by a different taxi firm a short time after the assault and taken to the Dornan’s Hill area of Newry.

The taxi driver sustained cuts and bruising to his body and head. Police would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact them in Ardmore on 0845 600 8000.
