Around one hundred kids from four schools in the Newry and Mourne area took part in an U14 Rugby Blitz at Newry RFC recently. The participating schools were The Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School (two teams), St. Paul’s High School (two teams), Shimna College and Blackwater Integrated College. The event was organised by Ulster Rugby’s Community Rugby Coach Jonathon Graham, with support from Female Rugby Officer, Zoe Templeton and Community Rugby Coach, Marc Beggs, as well as a couple of volunteers from Newry RFC. This was made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the ‘Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport’ programme.
