Making music with Youth Visions
Young people from the Newry area are being given the opportunity to write and record a song as part of the Confederation of Community Groups’ Youth Visions Project.
During the month of August, 60 young people from the Newry area took part in a cultural awareness programme, learning about culture and identity.
Young people took part in a vast array of workshops in which they learnt Bulgarian arts & craft, Chinese Lion Dance, Bollywood dancing, Gypsy/ Traveller culture and explored their own cultural identity.
Reflecting on what they have learned throughout the programme so far, young people are creating a song with Belfast based organisation ‘Making Music Workshops’.
Young people are creating their own piece of music where they will learn everything from the structure and melody of a song to recording and editing.
For the next stage of the project, young people will be working with local video production company ‘Slack Press’ to create a music video for their song and to learn editing and production techniques.
