Speaking to Newry Times, Gibbons said, “My party colleague Mick Murphy had written to Roads Service requesting a number of improvements to the condition of the footpaths in this new development, after being asked by local residents to look at improving safety in the area.

“I want to welcome the response of the Roads Service who have now carried out a number of measures, including a raised kerbline, better drainage, crossing point access across the entrance of the development and also footpath resurfacing.

He added, “Hopefully the work carried out will go some way in easing the concerns of residents in this new development and I want to thank Roads Service for carrying it out so quickly.”
