McKevitt appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary

MLA for South Down Karen McKevitt has been appointed as the new Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for the Environment. Commenting on her new post McKevitt said, “I am honoured to be appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to my party colleague and DOE Minister Mark H Durkan. “I feel very privileged that our party leader Alasdair McDonnell saw fit to select me for this position. I look forward to working alongside the Minister and his officials and gaining experience of working inside a government Department. “I will carry out my new role along with my existing responsibilities as a member of the Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee and Business Committee. My priority as always will be to serve the people of South Down. Mark H Durkan, Minister for the Environment said, “I look forward to working with Karen in her Assembly role. I have no doubt the Department of the Environment will benefit from the energy and commitment she will bring to this new post.”
