‘Shop local by supporting Newcastle Shopping Week’ – Clarke

Newcastle Shopping Week, which runs from Saturday 7th to Saturday 14th September, has been welcomed by Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke.

The shop local initiative project is being supported by Down District Council the Department of Social Development and Newcastle Chamber of Commerce.

Clarke told Newry Times, “I welcome Newcastle Shopping Week running from Saturday 7th to Saturday 14th September which is aimed at supporting local businesses who already help to create jobs and help to sustain the local economy.

“Newcastle has many great local businesses which offer a wide and varied range of great offers, deals, and above all great local customer service something which is very special and unique unlike the major large out of town shopping centres.

“Many Newcastle businesses helped welcome over 125,000 people to the beautiful seaside town during the recent Festival of Flight and ensured that visitors had a great experience in Newcastle. Many businesses entered the spirit of the event and ran window displays and special ‘Festival of Flight offers and discounts.

“Newcastle businesses are an important part of the local community and I would encourage people to especially support Newcastle Shopping Week as I know there will be a lot of local businesses offering a range of fantastic deals and discounts.”

Clarke added, “By shopping local in Newcastle people are helping to keep money in the local economy as well as supporting local businesses and helping to create more jobs.”
