MEP reiterates support for Narrow Water Bridge

Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has reiterated her support for the Narrow Water Bridge project during a visit to the South Down constituency.

Speaking to Newry Times, Anderson stated, “The Narrow Water Bridge is a major infrastructural project that has the support of the Special EU Programmes Body.

“In fact it has been flagged up as having achieved one of the highest scores for a European infrastructural project on the island of Ireland.

“Despite the recent setback I am determined to ensure that the project will be completed and I am regularly updated by my colleagues in the constituency,” she insisted.

“I will be lobbying the SEUPB to ensure that the funding for the bridge is ring fenced and that all other possible European revenue streams are exhausted to finance this project so that it can be completed in the current time frame.

Anderson added, “I will continue to work with everyone involved in this project as I see it as being a major economic catalyst for the area.”
