‘Spate of Newry arson attacks may be linked’ – Police

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a number of arson incidents that occurred in the early hours of Friday 9th August.

At approximately 12.30am, police received a report of a car on fire in the Bearna Park area of Killeavy.

At approximately 2.40am, police received a report that two bins had been set on fire in the Kilmorey Street area. Approximately ten minutes later, police received a report that one bin was on fire in the St Marys Street area.

Finally, at approximately 3.55am, police received a report of a car on fire in the North Street area.

Enquiries into these incidents are currently ongoing and police are looking into the possibility of any of these incidents being linked to each other.

Anyone with any information about any of these incidents is asked to contact Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
