Daisy Hill Hospital works stoppage ‘worries’ Brady

Newry Sinn Fein MLA Mickey Brady has said that work has completely stopped on the extension of Daisy Hill Accident and Emergency Unit.

Brady told Newry Times, “I have received reports yesterday evening that all work on the new A&E department in Daisy Hill Hospital stopped completely.

“I believe that staff were not informed of any imminent stoppages and this is therefore a worrying development.

“I met with the Chief Executive of the Southern Trust Mairead McAlinden last week and there was no mention of any issues with the work.

Brady added, “I have tried to contact Ms McAlinden this evening to get some clarification and I am awaiting a return call.”
