Two teenagers arrested after cannabis find

Police in Newry have arrested two men on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs. On Monday evening, 22nd July, police were on patrol when they observed a man on Dominic Street who made off from them as they approached. The male ran into Barcroft Park where he entered a forest. Officers searched the forest area and subsequently located the man with two other men in Barcroft Park. The three again made off from police and a strong smell of cannabis was noted. Officers gave chase and a 17 year old was detained. A small bag of cannabis was recovered a short distance away. The 17 year old man was arrested for possession of Class B drugs and obstruction and later released on bail pending further enquiries. A 16 year old man was also arrested for possession of Class B drugs and was interviewed. He will be reported to the PPS.
