Police seek Subaru driver after spate of car break-ins

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a number of cars were broken into.

Around 3.45pm on Wednesday, 10th July, the front driver’s side window of a silver Mercedes taxi was smashed whilst parked at a golf club on Forkhill Road.

The vehicle was entered however nothing was taken. A silver Subaru Forester with Republic of Ireland registration plates is believed to be involved in the incident.

The passenger of the vehicle is described as being between 25 and 35 years of age, of stocky build and was wearing a yellow t-shirt and black baseball cap. The Subaru then made off towards Newry.

A short time later a black Peugeot car was broken into on Catherine Street and a white Citroen Berlingo van was broken into outside the sports centre on Patrick Street. Various items were taken from both.

Police are linking these incidents and would appeal to anyone who has information in relation to the break ins or the movements of the Subaru vehicle to contact them in Newry on 0845 600 8000.
