Two arrested after Bessbrook drugs find

Police in Bessbrook have arrested two males in relation to the possession of illegal drugs.

Officers in Bessbrook said they are aware of the community’s concerns about illegal drug use in the local area and observed a male acting suspiciously in the Orior Park area this morning, 17th July.

Officers stopped the 25 year old male and observed him attempting to dispose of suspected drugs. He was subsequently searched and arrested for possession of Class B and C drugs.

Police conducted a further search of a house in the Orior Park area and recovered a quantity of class A and C drugs. A 43 year old male was arrested for possession and intent to supply class A and C drugs. The two males are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Constable Bell, Newry and Mourne Response, said, “The community should be rest assured that we take their concerns about all criminal activity seriously and do our utmost to tackle the crime that effects their quality of life.

“Today we were able to remove illegal drugs from circulation in the local community as a result of listening to local concerns, support from the community and proactive police patrolling.”
