Police investigate Hilltown theft

Police in Warrenpoint are appealing for information following the report of a theft from a vehicle in the Sandbank Road area of Hilltown on Thursday 20th June.

It was reported that at sometime between 11.45amĀ and 2.15pm a window from a parked silver coloured Ford Transit minibus was removed with property belonging to students on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition taken.

The discarded property was later recovered on Sunday 23rd June at a field in the Drumlee Road area of Kilcoo.

Police would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Sandbank Road area on Thursday 20th June or in the Drumlee Road area in the time thereafter to contact them in Warrenpoint on 0845 600 8000.

Police would advise motorists that leaving valuables on view in a vehicle is an invitation to thieves. If they see something valuable on view, they will find a way to get it.

You only have to leave your vehicle for a short time for a thief to act. Anyone who would like crime prevention advice on this or any other subject is asked to contact their local crime prevention officer on 0845 600 8000.
