Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Clarke said, “If all sides are open to talks and negotiations then there is every possibility that we can have a peaceful marching season.

“I would urge people on all sides to act responsibly this summer. It is in the best interests of everybody that we have a non contentious summer.

“We must not let the good work done by the G8 summit go to waste by having another summer of dispute and violence.

“Northern Ireland has been on the world stage for all the right reasons in the past week, this must continue if we are to boost our economy.

Clarke added, “It is already difficult to get major job announcements like that of Japanese firm Terumo, however this will be made even harder if we are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.”
