Advance site investigations on Newry Canal

Newry & Mourne District Council wish to announce that for one week beginning Monday 24th June 2013, essential Site Investigation Works will be taking place along Buttercrane Quay and Merchants Quay in advance of the proposed Newry City Linkages Public Realm Scheme, which is scheduled to start along these Canal sections later in the year.

To facilitate the investigation works, the level of Newry Canal will be temporarily lowered by approximately 450mm, between Monday 24th June 2013 through to Sunday 30th June 2013.

Council and the DSD funder is aware of the need to further consult in due course on phasing of the overall schemes implementation.

Traders and the general public will have an opportunity via a drop-in evening, to discuss in detail with the Contractor when appointed, the phasing of the works.
