Newry Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Mickey Brady has taken part in the Pensioner’s Parliament event in the Holiday Inn, Belfast on Friday 31st May. The event, attended by hundreds of older people, was hosted by Age Sector Platform and was designed to give older people an opportunity to raise issues with local politicians. The Pensioner’s Parliament panel included Nigel Dodds, Naomi Long, Michael Copeland and Margaret Ritchie. Speaking after the event Brady said, “As Sinn Féin’s spokesperson for older people I was delighted to be invited to participate in this event. The questions that were posed from the audience were all relevant to older peoples’ issues. “It was great to hear the extent to which these people are tuned into the important issues that are affecting older people. I will for my part use some of the information provided at the event to pose questions at committee level in the Assembly. “I would like to thank the organisers of the event for the invite and I will continue to support this very important section of our community.”
