Rogers meets Invest NI about local funding opportunities

South Down MLA Seán Rogers met with Invest NI officials to discuss funding opportunities for South Down.

Speaking to Newry Times, Rogers commented, “I had a very useful and informative meeting with officials from Invest NI where I put forward a strong case for the Constituency of South Down.

“This meeting offered an insight into the schemes which Invest NI currently offer. They range from; Small Business Loan Funds to Finance Vouchers.”

Rogers continued, “I fully support these schemes which are crucially needed in this area for local businesses.

“The Small Business Loan Fund managed by the Ulster Community Investment Plc aims to provide loans of between £1,000 and £50,000 on a typically unsecured basis at 8% – 16% interest rates.

Start-ups are eligible to apply for up to £15k with mentoring support available. The Finance Voucher initiative is to help companies preparing funding proposals.

The first call for applications closed on 30th April this year and will close at the end of each quarter i.e June, September, December and March annually. Each voucher will have a six month time limit from the date of award.

Rogers added, “I hope that with the help of Invest NI and the Down Business Centre we will see the creation of many more entrepreneurs in the months and years ahead.”
