‘Holidaymakers need to check insurance restrictions’ – Hazzard

Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has called on people to check their travel insurance if they buy it in the north but fly out of an airport in the south.

Hazzard said that many thousands of people living in the North regularly depart on their holidays from airports in the south unaware that this affects their travel insurance.

He stated, “It is important that your travel insurance is valid as you never know what can happen when abroad so I would call on everyone to double check before travelling abroad.

“Companies providing insurance should make it clear to their customers what restrictions exist and holidaymakers need to be aware of these type of technicalities and ensure they are covered regardless of what airport in Ireland they depart from,” Hazzard added.
