Elderly man robbed in Crossmaglen

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in the Cullaville Road area of Crossmaglen on Thursday morning (9th May). Around 10:45am the elderly resident answered a knock on his door and a man asked to check his cash as there were a lot of stolen money in the area. The 75 year old man showed the caller the contents of his wallet which he snatched and made off. The elderly man was unhurt but badly shaken by his ordeal. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who noticed any unusual activity in the area is asked to contact police at Newry CID on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
