Community urged to convey feelings to Health Minister

Fews area Sinn Fein Councillor Pat McGinn has urged the community to ensure that Minister Edwin Poots is well aware of their feelings in relation to the recent handling of the care homes fiasco and the long term future of homes such as Cloughreagh House.

“People Power has ensured an abrupt stalling of the care home fiasco that was being steam rolled out by the Trusts,” McGinn blasted.

“I am sure that residents, their families and staff of Cloughreagh House and all other targeted centres will now have an opportunity to have their views and wishes clearly heard.

“The minister has said that he will have a hands on approach which is to be welcomed as it is important that any proposed changes are discussed and agreed with the full involvement of those it directly effects,” said the local Councillor.

He added, “However, I would urge all who have valued and respected the services of Cloughreagh House, not only to residents but the community, to ensure they contact Minister Poots and let him know exactly that and how important the retention of the Home and service is to us all.”
