‘Meeting on St Jude’s flooding positive’ – Ruane
Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has met with the Water Service and River Agency to discuss the installation of a pumping station in St Jude’s, Rostrevor to resolve a long-term problem of flooding.
Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I have spoken to Ian O’Hare from Water Board and Conor Mallon from Rivers Agency about the installation of a pumping station to resolve the flooding problem in St Jude’s.
“In the past residents have had their homes have been flooded and the only way to resolve the problem is for the installation of a pumping station. It is important that people have confidence that they can live in their homes without worrying about the weather and how it will effect their property.
Ruane added, “I am now more content that this problem will be resolved in the near future and that the residents will get peace of mind when it comes to inclement weather. This will be significant investment in Rostrevor and I urged the agencies to move quickly so there will be no delays in installing the new system.”
