Conor Murphy re-elected to Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle

Sinn Féin MP for Newry Armagh, Conor Murphy has been once again elected to the party’s Ard Comhairle during the 2013 Ard Fheis in Castlebar Co. Mayo.

Speaking on his nomination and successful re-election Murphy said, “I am happy to sit once again on the Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle or National Executive. Over the past year the Ard Comhairle has been responsible for implementing the motions passed at the 2012 Ard Fheis.

“For the remainder of 2013 my fellow members and I will be following up on the implementation of new policy coming from this Ard Fheis. We will also be responsible for ensuring that key Sinn Féin projects are progressed over the next year.

“In addition I would like to take this opportunity to welcome news that a ‘mock’ Border Poll will be held next month in my own constituency.

“Crossmaglen and neighbouring Creggan Upper in Co Louth will be the first places in Ireland where the community living there will have the opportunity to have their say on the border. The poll date will be 25th May and I know that the local organising committee have planned three weeks of events in the run up to this.

Murphy added, “Crossmaglen local Emma McArdle is chairing this committee which is made up of a varied membership of cultural, sporting and community activists from Crossmaglen and Creggan Upper.”
