Police in Warrenpoint are appealing for witnesses to an assault that occurred on a private hire bus travelling from Carlingford to Kilkeel, on the evening of Sunday 31st March, to contact them. The assault is believed to have taken place on board the bus as it passed through the Shore Road area of Rostrevor when a woman was hit on the head with a glass bottle and sustained head injuries that required hospital treatment. A window at the front of the bus was broken following the assault. A 23 year old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and was later released on police bail pending further enquiries. Officers have spoken with a number of passengers in order to obtain witness statements and would ask anyone who was travelling on the bus but who has not yet been spoken to by police to contact them in Warrenpoint on 0845 600 8000.
