Roads meeting to address Moninna Park surface concerns

Newry and Mourne Sinn Fein Councillor Pat McGinn has confirmed that a Fews Area meeting involving Roads Service to discuss local residents concerns and frustrations in relation to the state of the road surface and footpaths in Monnina Park on the Chancellors Road will take place.

The local Councillor said that residents felt that they had been abandoned by Roads Service and the Council. “The roads surface here in Monnina Park is like a patchwork quilt of uneven coverings and is in fact a serious health and safety risk.

“Local people are extremely frustrated at what they feel has been the total abandonment of the area by Roads Service. I have requested a meeting with local Councillors, residents and Roads Service Officers to highlight once again and hopefully address these concerns.”

McGinn added, “The issue of safety along the Chancellors Road particularly at Bleary Bungalows has not been resolved and I will continue to pursue it.”

The Councillor concluded by stating that recently a request for Roads Service to address concerns about the road surface in Cloughreagh Park had been made.
