As the 2013 ‘Face of Buttercrane’ competition gets underway, the message from Buttercrane Centre is clear, “we want to hear from anyone – male or female – who thinks they have what it takes to walk the walk and talk the talk of a role model for the local fashion scene,” says Peter Murray, Centre Manager.

Claire Lyons, the reigning Miss Buttercrane, and local talent spotter Pauline O’Malley

“Whether you simply have a passion for fashion, an eye for designing and customising your own outfits, or maybe even an ambition to build a career as a model you are the type of person we want to hear from. Come and take a step in the right direction by having a chat with our talent spotters, Pauline O’Malley and Claire Lyons. “Pauline, a former Miss Northern Ireland, will be in Buttercrane Centre from 1pm to 5 pm on both Saturday 23rd and Saturday 30th March, joined by Claire Lyons, the reigning Miss Buttercrane, who can tell you all about what the opportunity entails.” The competition is timed to find three new faces just in time for Buttercrane’s events surrounding Newry Style City’s weekend of fashion and style events, of which Buttercrane is a main sponsor (19th to 21st April.) Speaking about her title-holding year, Claire, who is a first year nursing student at Queen’s University as well as working part-time in Top Shop at Buttercrane, says, “The whole experience has developed my self-esteem, boosted my confidence and has been an incredibly enjoyable experience.” Peter Murray continued, “As well as taking part in fashion show events for Buttercrane at Newry Style City, the three finalists in our Face of Buttercrane 2013 will also be automatically entered into the fashion week’s Style Awards, with the overall winner being revealed and crowned at one of our fashion shows on April 20th. “The winner will receive a £200 Buttercrane Gift Card and reign supreme for the rest of the year as the star of many of our Centre’s fashion shows and photo shoots. Each of the two runners up will receive £50 as well as opportunities to also feature in Buttercrane’s fashion promotion activities.” If you are unable to make it along to the centre on the 23rd or 30th, send an email with a couple of good full length photos of you in your favourite outfits and your contact details to customerservice@buttercraneshopping.co.uk by 5pm on Friday 29th March. Peter added, “Another date for you diary is Saturday 13th April when we’ll be on the look out for a Buttercrane Street Style winner. So all cool, hip and trendy Buttercrane shoppers be warned to come along in your best street style that day, where our Street Style Spotters will be in the Mall snapping contestants. “Finalist’s photos will be posted on our Facebook page and the person who receives the most votes by 19th April will win a £100 Buttercrane Gift Card and goody bag, as well as the title.” Stay up to date on Buttercrane’s activities at this year’s Newry Style City event at www.facebook.com/Buttercrane.
