Alliance encourages people to complete survey on rural broadband

Alliance Party Newcastle Councillor Patrick Clarke is encouraging people and businesses especially in rural areas within County Down who are experiencing poor coverage or no broadband reception to complete an online questionnaire.

The information from the questionnaires will be used to build a case for a major broadband programme paid for by DARD in the near future.

Speaking to Newry Times, Clarke explained,

“County Down Rural Community Network and DARD are seeking information on the level and quality of broadband coverage in rural areas and are aware there are parts of County Down where broadband coverage is extremely poor but need more information to make the case for improved services.”

“This information is going to be used to build a case for a major broadband programme paid for by DARD in the near future, so therefore it is important for people and businesses to complete a survey, especially for any area where signal is poor.”

“This is an opportunity for people and businesses to help to make the case for improved broadband services for households and businesses.

He added, “If people or businesses are experiencing poor quality or no broadband service at home, I would encourage them to either download a questionnaire from www.mournelive.com or email mary@countydownrcn.com or telephone 02844612311 to request a questionnaire.”

Questionnaires need to be returned to County Down Rural Community Network before Friday 29th March 2013 and can be emailed to mary@countydownrcn.com or posted to Ballymote Centre, 40 Killough Road, Downpatrick, Co. Down, BT30 6PY.
