Burns congratulates Cullyhanna Community Partnership

Sinn Féin councillor Colman Burns has congratulated Cullyhanna Community Partnership on the Official Opening of their revamped Community Centre on Friday last, February 15th.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Burns said, “It took a lot of hard work to get to this position but it was all very worthwhile when you witness the finished product and see the busy weekly programme that now exists at the centre.”

The councillor continued, “Just a few years ago Cullyhanna Community Centre was in danger of closing due to lack of use, caused partly by the fact that the building layout no longer suited the needs of the community. The community partnership came together and developed a plan of action that involved the total refurbishment of the centre.

He added, “With the help of funding from the council and SOAR, and lots of hard work by the committee, especially Teresa Nugent, who headed up the project from day one, there is now a modern Community Centre that will serve the needs of the people of Cullyhanna for many years to come.”
