The Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Councillor John McArdle will launch Páirc na Mara, Lower Mourne Gaelic League’s new Irish Language Centre in Marine Park, Annalong Wednesday 20th February 2013 at 2.00pm. This refurbished building will provide a wide range of facilities to the Irish Language Community in Lower Mourne. The Páirc na Mara project funded by An Ciste Infheistíochta Gaeilge, the International Fund for Ireland, the Rural Development Council and Newry and Mourne District Council, places the Irish Language in the heart of the marine and rural community of Annalong. The Mayor will also launch Bliain na Gaeilge 2013 (the Year of the Irish Language) at Páirc na Mara. It is fitting that the Council will initiate its year-long celebration of the Irish Language at new cultural centre in Marine Park in recognition of the sterling work of Lower Mourne Gaelic League. The Council has worked in partnership with Lower Mourne for many years in promoting and developing the Irish Language in area. Julian de Spáinn, the National Organiser, for Bliain na Gaeilge 2013 will also be on hand to launch this year dedicated to the Irish Language.
