Two arrested after ‘fake’ I-Phone sale

Police in Newry have arrested two males after two I-Phone 5’s bought by an unsuspecting man were found to be fake.

On Thursday, 7th February, a customer arranged to meet a seller in Newry after arranging the purchase of two I-Phone 5s through an internet selling site. The customer met the seller and handed over £600 in cash for two I-Phones which were packaged up in I-Phone boxes.

When the customer examined the phones he found them to be faulty and took them to a shop where it was confirmed that they were fake.

A  24 year old man and 42 year old man were arrested in Newry on Friday, 8th February. Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
