Man (60) punched after answering front door to thief
Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following an attempted burglary and assault in the John F Kennedy Park area of Bessbrook.
At around 9.15pm on Friday, 8th February, a man banged at the door of a house and demanded car keys from the 60 year old male occupant.
The occupant refused and the male attempted to force his way into the house and punched the occupant a number of times. The occupant sustained cuts to his face as a result of the unprovoked attack.
The assailant is described as being approximately 20 years old, 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
It is believed the man may have been in the area for a time prior to the incident and police are appealing to anyone who noticed the man or has information in relation to the attempted burglary and assault to contact them in Newry on 0845 600 8000.
