Christmas prize for Recycler of the Month
Mrs Pepi Kelly, Mayobridge was chosen as Christmas 2012 Recycler of the Month. Mrs Kelly has a blue and a brown bin which she uses to their full recycling capacity every fortnight.
She often has to go to Aughnagun with her other recyclable items but the introduction of glass into the blue bin has been a huge help. Her whole family get involved with recycling rather than leaving all the organising to just one person.
Owen Lyttle from the Rethink Waste campaign said: “We would like to congratulate Mrs Kelly and her family for their commitment to recycling in their everyday lives.
“As a family they can make the most of the blue bin service available, which now includes glass bottles and jars, tetra pak, as well as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, clean plastic containers and trays and aerosol cans.”
The competition is sponsored by the Department of the Environment’s Rethink Waste campaign in partnership with Newry and Mourne District Council. If you would like to win £50, keep using your blue bin correctly as your area could be checked next.
