Councillor Valerie Harte recently attended the Justice in the Community Awards Ceremony in Stormont with a delegation from the local Community Restorative Justice project. The awards were presented by the Department of Justice Minister, David Ford, in recognition of the achievement brought by community groups and individuals to the justice system. Councillor Harte stated, “As a Councillor for Newry and Mourne I very much welcome these awards as an acknowledgement of what the community can bring to the justice system. “They are about celebrating the commitment of communities to achieve a more fair, just and safer environment for everyone.” “I am delighted CRJ Newry/Armagh have been nominated by various organisations, both rural and urban, throughout the district. “I would also encourage all communities with issues around anti-social behaviour to contact the CRJ office in Ballybot House on 30266337.”
