State of the art recycling facility to open before Christmas

Sinn Féin councillor Terry Hearty has welcomed news that a new state of the art recycling facility is to open in Crossmaglen before Christmas.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Hearty said, “Crossmaglen’s state of the art recycling facility is on target and due to open before Christmas. Following the latest update on the recycling facility, which will be located to the rear of Supervalu, I am delighted to confirm that it will be ready to open by mid December.”

“The community of Crossmaglen and the surrounding area have been waiting for this facility for years. There was great difficulty in locating the best site but we have it now and I think it will prove to have been worth the wait.

He added, “For years the people of this area had to travel to Newtownhamilton or Camlough in order to recycle and our own facility will make that so much easier. We all know the importance of recycling. Anything that goes to a landfill is paid for by the ratepayer in landfill tax.

“The council has received funding for the facility and if used properly it can save money and help the environment. I look forward to seeing this facility up and running. I have no doubt it will be well used by the people of the area.”
